HAPPY NEW YEAR
 

सर्दी-खांसी
सर्दी-खांसी से बुरा हाल है
डॉक्टर को दिखाया है
हालत सुधर रही है
ढेरों कैप्सूल खाया है!
जब सर्दी-खांसी हो जाती है
मन चिडचिडा हो जाता है
नाक बहती रहती है
कुछ भी नहीं भाता है!
भगवान् बड़े रोग दे दे
पर दे न कभी सर्दी-खांसी
कुछ खास नुकसान तो नहीं होता
पर मन में छायी रहती उदासी!
सर में थकान सी रहती है
सब भारी-भारी लगता है
किसी काम में दिल नहीं लगता
बस सोने का मन करता है!
नाक सुड-सुड करता है
आवाज अजीब हो जाती है
कुछ दिन आदमी नहीं नहाता
छीकें खूब आती हैं!
मैं तो इतना हेल्थी हूँ
फिर भी सर्दी लग जाती है
प्रकृति के आगे जोर नहीं चलता
सर्दी-खांसी सालाना आती है!
 

घासवाली

मुलिया हरी-हरी घास का गट्ठा लेकर आयी, तो उसका गेहुआँ रंग कुछ तमतमाया हुआ था और बड़ी-बड़ी मद-भरी आँखो में शंका समाई हुई थी। महावीर ने उसका तमतमाया हुआ चेहरा देखकर पूछा - क्या है मुलिया, आज कैसा जी है?

मुलिया ने कुछ जवाब न दिया उसकी आँखें डबडबा गयीं! महावीर ने समीप आकर पूछा - क्या हुआ है, बताती क्यों नहीं ? किसी ने कुछ कहा है? अम्माँ ने डाँटा है? क्यों इतनी उदास है ?

मुलिया ने सिसककर कहा - क़ुछ नहीं, हुआ क्या है, अच्छी तो हूँ?

महावीर ने मुलिया को सिर से पाँव तक देखकर कहा - चुपचाप रोयेगी, बतायेगी नहीं ?

मुलिया ने बात टालकर कहा - कोई बात भी हो, क्या बताऊँ?

मुलिया इस ऊसर में गुलाब का फूल थी।...

प्रेम सूत्र


संसार में कुछ ऐसे मनुष्य भी होते हैं जिन्हें दूसरों के मुख से अपनी स्त्री की सौंदर्य-प्रशंसा सुनकर उतना ही आनन्द होता है जितनी अपनी कीर्ति की चर्चा सुनकर। पश्चिमी सभ्यता के प्रसार के साथ ऐसे प्राणियों की संख्या बढ़ती जा रही है। पशुपतिनाथ वर्मा इन्हीं लोगों में थे। जब लोग उनकी परम सुन्दरी स्त्री की तारीफ करते हुए कहते — ओहो! कितनी अनुपम रूप-राशि है, कितना अलौकिक सौन्दर्य है, तब वर्माजी मारे खुशी और गर्व के फूल उठते थे।

संध्या का समय था। मोटर तैयार खड़ी थी। वर्माजी सैर करने जा रहे थे, किन्तु प्रभा जाने को उत्सुक नहीं मालूम होती थी। वह एक कुर्सी पर बैठी हुई कोई उपन्यास पढ़ रही थी।

वर्मा जी ने कहा — तुम तो अभी तक बैठी पढ़ रही हो।

‘मेरा तो इस समय जाने को जी नहीं चाहता।’

‘नहीं प्रिये, इस समय तुम्हारा न चलना सितम हो जाएगा। मैं चाहता हूँ कि तुम्हारी इस मधुर छवि को घर से बाहर भी तो लोग देखें।’

‘जी नहीं, मुझे यह लालसा नहीं है। मेरे रूप की शोभा केवल तुम्हारे लिए है और तुम्हीं को दिखाना चाहती हूँ।’

‘नहीं, मैं इतना स्वार्थान्ध नहीं हूँ। जब तुम सैर करने निकलो, मैं लोगों से यह सुनना चाहता हूँ कि कितनी मनोहर छवि है! पशुपति कितना भाग्यशाली पुरुष है!’

‘तुम चाहो, मैं नहीं चाहती। तो इसी बात पर आज मैं कहीं नहीं जाऊँगी। तुम भी मत जाओ, हम दोनों अपने ही बाग में...
